⭐️ The tell-show-do content framework
Create more actionable content using this 3-part framework (with a free template). Your audience will love and thank you for it!
Before we start, a short backstory: Several years ago, I became a part-time marketing instructor at a local college in Toronto.
I had to take a course on helping students turn theory into practice.
It's where I learned this framework to create more actionable content!
For this post, I’ll be breaking down one of the best pieces of content I’ve read on how to craft a more effective homepage by
It follows this 3-part formula.
1. Tell. 🎙
The first part of actionable content is to tell the audience the problem and a solution to help solve it.
Emily starts by breaking down what’s wrong with most homepages and shares her 4 steps to improve it.
She provides tips, best practices, common mistakes, and data.
2. Show. 🔎
The second component of actionable content is to show examples of what the best looks like.
Throughout the four steps, Emily shares examples of companies with an effective homepage.
For example, she features Mutiny as having a great benefits section on its homepage:
3. Do. ⚙️
What separates good content from remarkable, actionable content is the last component.
That means providing resources, templates, and next steps to help the audience apply the concepts to their lives and workflows.
For example, the last thing Emily does in her article is to provide a template, Figma file, and relevant courses and workshops to create a more effective homepage. Those are only available to her paid subscribers.
